Exercise Science Career and Internship Information
Internship Information
The internship in Exercise Science is intended to be the culminating experience of the degree. The internship experience allows and promotes the application and improvement of course-based learning (knowledge, skills, and abilities) in a real-world setting. In addition to allowing the student to gain experience in the field, it is also the first opportunity for many students to begin building a network of professional contacts.
Students are required to independently select a site that is appropriate, one that has a clear link to knowledge that has been garnered in the major. In addition, the student must be under the supervision of a professional in the field, with an appropriate combination of education, certification/licensure, and experience. Careful scrutiny will be given when evaluating new sites and site supervisors to ensure that students receive a quality internship experience. Students are strongly encouraged to meet personally with and discuss their potential internship site with the Exercise Science Internship Coordinator. Students will be permitted to register for the site only after the Internship Coordinator has approved the site.
